Tydec,
Thanks so much for the unsolicited investment advice. I own my mineral rights, so I have a 100% guarantee that there will not be any mining on my 70 acres. At least I have that.....
Despite your claims, I am not against all mining. However, if mining is to occur around me, I will be very active in making sure the mining company is meeting all the requirements/conditions. Frankly, I don't see why any investor at Black Range would have a problem with this if they truly believe in that Black Range is a responsible mining company. BTW, is Black Range actually a mining company a speculator? I do not see where they have ever had any earnings from actual mining operations, but I may have missed it.
It is true that I would prefer that there is never a strip mine in the area. How many people actually want a strip mine in their back yard? You, on the other hand, appear to care less about the potential impact of this project if it comes to full fruition. Of course, why would you care if it de-waters the entire area or it ruins the natural beauty of the place?
As far as the Fremont County Master Plan for the Tallahassee area, I did make an assumption that it actually meant what it said regarding large scale mining operations. I freely admit that I did put too much faith in county government to actually adhere to the plan they passed. Leave it to them to put something in writing and then ignore it just because a big ranch was involved in the project. When I said "relatively safe" in my previous post, it meant that I did know there was a small risk the plan could be changed. I did not expect the commissioners to just ignore the plan and move forward as they have despite the land use plan.
