I understand not wanting to list the items if you won them yourself, but the amount of people scouring ebay for metal bargains, makes the odds of getting lucky pretty slim now days.

I have a few "search" words, that sometimes turn up silver bargains, but 99 times out of 100 I get outbid anyway and the items goes well over spot and the hours spent trolling are no longer worth it IMO.

Best ebay coin bargain I have had, was someone listed 9 1937 and 1938 florins, and didnt pay for the listing pic, so it wasnt until you opened the page that you could see they were crowns and not florins. I actually msgd the seller and told him of his error, he replied back that they were left to him by his dad and "I dont care what you kooky coin guys call them" just bid on them...SERIOUS

I Got them slightly over spot (for florins), his old man would have been rolling, there was two 38s one real nice the other had slight rim damage from being dropped but still nice, 37s were aunc/unc.

I have seen some really suspect listings, where coins were BIN but were just to good to be true, recently there was a seller (zero feedback), here in victoria supposedly selling 1oz gold lunars for $500, as well as proof lunar gold sets for $850, the pics were straight off the net, there was a bit of a story as to why he was selling them, and that he wanted them to go to a good home (yeah sure), there was over 20 seperate items and the listings only ever lasted a few minutes each, before being snagged, I only noticed these as I was checking prices in past listings, so I kept an eye to see if any buyers had left feedback for the coins, but until the past listings had expired, there had been no feedback left, so did the coins exist or not? if the coins didnt exist, how does the seller benifit, does paypal release funds to the seller straight away, does a paypal claim have to be made within 45 days, could the seller string things out this long, Would you have bid on these items if you had seen them.

There is also dodgy (australian bullion reserve) silver bars and gold plated coins, just like rebel1 layered coins and german silver...the list goes on, just to keep the uninformed buyers on their toes.

    cheers grant

I would say over 99% of my ebay and paypal experiences have been positive, use your street smarts and you should be right more than not.
