I'm trying to clean up my back yard. The tenants clocked up an excess water bill but really were only watering weeds. I hate mowing weeds! They regrow faster than the grass.
I have a powerful Stihl trimmer and when I get started, take no prisoners. I would rather bare patches than weeds. There is a little ground hugging thing with a leaf like ivy which is immune to glyphosate so I tracked down 2.4D. (It has a bad name but it was the impurities and careless handling which caused the problem in Nam, I believe.) Hard to buy in retail quantities so I bought a couple of litres and when I read the application strengths it will last me a lifetime. I like it because it is "selective" and will kill nut grass and clover in lawns.
If you can find it, it should knock the ivy while leaving the lawn if used @ recommended strengths.
Note: As the concentrate is quite strong I take more precautions than I normally do. Even bought a face shield so I can spray the chinee-apple trees growing over my fence.
