I think your right on alot of fronts with the current state of affairs with the two party system .But for me the type of goverment thats in power now is what i often dream of .I like hung parliements because you do not get the likes of Hawke and Howard in play.
The buget delivered to my way of thinking reflects this .Its tight on loop holes its delivering for areas its got parts in it from all sides of goverment and to me its a very fair reflection of what hung parliements can deliver to the public.
The opposition is in its role not having to deliver or negotiate on policy this may very well be its downfall if it does not get its people up on policy of its own that it can defend or sell to the public .They need show strength in leadership and need get someone in finance fast who can start taking some of swans slowly steady gain by thier own downfall in his predictions comming through.
If the senate behaves itself over the next two years the opposition could be in some real trouble because by all means it looks like the budget will come into surplus regardless because of the forward work comming online .I dont think the opposition is taking labour apart at a corporate level where possibly the real thinkers are.In fact i thin k with his speach tonight he would have put real worry into them.Industry anyalsis is being contridictry to his appeals in the shock area where quite possibly he is winning the race.
The labour goverment is doing a poor job of selling itself and needs someone in the background highlighting the hidden benifits of its schemes. The media in my view will turn towards the election and start looking for this .They will start looking how the hung parliement has performed and you will have all the elements outside of party politics selling itself to the media and highlighting productivity gains independents can achieve .
My understanding of the lnp now in Queensland is it is in fact a branch of the liberal party people may not like the loss of the national party up this way if they grasp this. They also never liked Abbotts involvement with Hanson so he cant talk about democracy with any conviction which makes it hard for him to appeal to peoples sense of a fair go and in protecting it.
