One of the most brilliant individuals of 'Man'.

    I like his theory.

I am a proponent of this theory of chance, for the sake of suicide prevention - just in case:

That there is a chance that there is no afterlife (although i do not subscribe to it).
If there is no afterlife, then there is no conciousness of the mind - perhaps a universal consciousness that manifests in a different way, but not a conscious one, as there is in life (which is another discussion entirely).

So if we accept that there is no afterlife and no consciousness, then anyone who dares to commit suicide as a means of releif, or escape is fooling themselves.

How can a conscience conduct the feeling of releif if there is no existence after death...no way of pondering or conducting any senses whatsoever?
How do they 'feel' releif, or escapism?

And so, under this theory, if someone kills themselves in order to feel releif from their existence, then they will get no form of pay-off for their action...they will leave a terrible mess for others to clean up...they will only have selfishly ended something that transfers into the lives of others as greif - and nothing more can come of it.

In this theory, suicide is a pointless and selfish delusion that offer no releif and no escape for any mortal.
