I don't understand the concept of a share valuation based on asset value, except in insolvency.
If assets don't produce a net profit after costs then such a business has no value and its assets are worthless except either as i)scrap value or ii) to a purchaser of the business who thinks they can operate the assets in a more cost efficient manner or iii) where they may enhance, by way of a marginal cost benefit, a purchaser of those assets .
The starting point for valuation of any business (ie its Share price) has to be a multiple of perceived earnings; there will be adjustments around that base figure for the reasons given in earlier posts, but at the end of day, short of insolvency, the sp will directly or indirectly reflect earnings.
