why doesnt lynas just build the plant next to the mine? or in a town near by? it seems silly to ship the stuff to another country to process it, there must be a reason for this...

i thought it was simply cheaper... maybe cheaper in terms of operating costs (paying workers less) or start up costs (cost less to build the plant) but all the concern from local citizens suggests that the waste material isnt hunky dory...

can anyone answer if australian regulations would make lynas treat the waste material further than they will have to in malaysia? is this where the cost saving comes from...?

if this is the case, i would support the citizens rights to be concerned over the plant, as an australian company is coming to their country with a 'not in my backyard' attitude...

it may be a good economic decision, but not such a great moral one...

im not a holder, but i've been following lynas for a while now...
