Isn't Arafura planning to build their plant at Whyalla in South Australia. I get the feeling the Malaysian's are worried that cashed up western interests will be reaping all the profits while they're stuck with the biological hazards. But the truth is that the Malaysians will reap industrial and economic benefit for their peoples and the hazards, whilst they do need to be clearly addressed, appear to be overstated.

I'm sure Arafura will get some protesters before their plant is built, but from the little I know the SA government has backed the building of the plant.

It might help if some of the Malaysians knew that one of these rare earth seperation plants has been given the go ahead to be built in a populated town in Australia as well. That LAMP is not a case of shipping off the dirty work to Malaysia and shipping the dollars to Australia.

    * You will have to forgive my ignorance and lack of knowledge, but I am assuming the LAMP and the Whyalla Rare Earths Complex are similar chemical processing operations.
