Was reading 'Australia's Mining Monthly' mag May edition last night, and had to laugh.
On page 18/19, Michael Pascoe writes an expose about his recent visit to NW QLD. He was hired by the Mt Isa chamber of commerce to chair a mining conference there..."The Port of Townsville Mining the Carpentaria Conference". The Port was the main sponsor.
Aside from commenting on how nice it was to drive up from Rockhampton via Longreach, visiting the Stockman's Hall of Fame and Qantas museums he made these references.

"There was much to learn, including lessons about the need for a rapid solution to the region's electricity crisis, the potential for several more mines if power was availiable from sources cheaper than diesel generators...the Townsville port's expansion plans to handle the projects coming on stream over the next few years". (I wonder who this could be Michael?)

Given he basically drove right past Rocklands on his way to Mt Isa you'd think he'd make the effort to visit.

No of course not, he's a SMH reporter! In fact he could only bring himself to mention Cudeco once.

..."No, it wasn't a hot tip about some penny dreadful that's found that which Lasseter lost, or even what really is or isn't happening with Cudeco, if anyone does know."

This guy epitomises whats wrong with resource and finance reporters in this country.
Too lazy to do some research, even when driving right past the next (and only) copper mine in that region for several years.
