Who to believe? Exactly. In Catholic theology one cannot just believe because Faith comes as a gift from God, one cannot will it. One has to be open to it to receive the gift and that openness might even involve active hostility to it.
Yes, there are Catholics who distance themselves from others. I even have a very different position from my Parish priest. I get along with him OK but I do not concur with his position on some important issues. In fact I would go so far as to say there is a silent schmism in the Catholic Church at the present.
With regard to the word rapture, it is favoured by Evangelists, the happy clappers.
