kbear, i dont think this is a whole "national affair". There are several successful mining companies in Kyrgyzstan, Centerra and Chaarat are in there. Orsu and Manas are still exploring and waiting for permit since they're in the 'right area'. Both Orsu and Manas have community/villagers support so its not a worry for them. The problem with Kentor is that its located in an area close to 'dumb' villagers, i do not know any other appropriate/technical term for that...but fact is fact, that those villagers do not support mining, for whatever reasons. I guess its acceptable/reasonable/logical for government and those jurisdictional authorities to strategically delay/vote against Kentor interest. Its understandable to put your people/citizens of country beyond foreign corporation, even though in this time foreign investment is needed.
However, these matter may need further debate/discussion from their government side, hence why i'm still confident in a country as a whole. The villagers are some what manageable in a way, I do not know how they'll deal with it though
