grahod, I had the same problem, but opposite i would think. Cause when ever i connected to my LAN i could send receive emails, but as soon as i used my virgin wireless BB usb stick... wouldn't do jack shoot!
I made the connection to connect to "any available" network and it seemed to do the trick.
Find the image below by clicking "tools" then "accounts"
