Barrelnut/Michelef I ask this in good faith. I'm all for supporting local and wholesome produce. I'm not shy about paying for quality as long as I'm not being conned. I can only rely on the producer. Where can I buy milk that has cream on top, REAL full fat creamy milk? I pay $4 for 1.5L of proper fruit juice, genuine item, no reconstituted trickery. I recall many many years ago the Daily Juice Co came on the scene. Full 'daily squeezed' juice, real it was, didn't take them long to mix reconstituted crap. Harvey Fresh milk in WA. Yes, I used to support them until I found out they were selling rebadged cheese form Victoria in WA. Where you live Michele sounds spot on, reminds me of River Cottage from Foxtel! It's great to support local and know the person who milks your cow. In suburbia you have only goodwill to rely on. I'm finding that impossible to rely on. You are correct, people pay $1.50/l per Coke but bawk at milk prices. Yet I bet their kids drink more Coke than milk. So the argument for them that Coke is pricier but not drunk in the same quantities is lost. As suggested, these people won't feature in the soup thread. These are the same imbeciles who whine about being on 'struggle street'. But back to the milk. Are the dairy farmers accepting less because the majors are on a price war? Hardly a price war if your minimising the loss by paying less for the product. Can anyone confirm the farmers rate/litre? As I've said before, I pay top dollar for juice. Also for Coconut water, about $12/l(only tried it, not a staple), Coffee beans, Bread etc etc. It's obvious that if you want the real deal you have to pay for it, and people DO pay. I have failed to see anything than the standard run of the mill milk for sale. Sell a full cream with REAL cream on top and I'm sure people will buy it. Those other products I mentioned do so maybe it's time the dairy farmer came to the real world and marketed the product properly. Hope I haven't overlooked that they aren't allowed to sell to who ever they want! But Michele, I hear you loud and clear and support the notion.
