Barneyw, Happily the "10,000 let go" landed in my lap today, a good time to accumulate. IAU.TO and IAU.AX should be in step, and has been within 2c for as long as I can remember. A few weeks ago IAU.AX opened 10c below IAU.TO and closed the gap by lunch. There isn't much can happen between Toronto closing and Sydney Opening - 4pm TO is 6am AX.
So when its out of whack by 16c, like today, its got to be good buying. Lets see what IAU.TO does tomorrow, whether it heads down to 1.80 or moves independently - I haven't done any correlation analysis, but finger in the air, TO tends to lead.
We should also consider currency futures - recently the AU$ has been retreating so it could pay the big players to cash in their IAU.AX in AU$ and move it to IAU.TO in C$.
