Without all those stimulus billions hundreds of thousands of jobs would have been lost. Businesses would have folded. Recession was avoided also avoiding consequential drop in confidence that would have compounded the position.
The Coalition wanted the economy to fail for political reasons which indicates a lack of integrity to be willing to sacrifice jobs and businesses and peoples homes not for the good of the country but for pure political advantage. Instead we now have the economy standing on its own feet and unemployment low and in decline. Mineral boom mark2 is about to get traction and Australia is the place to be. Thats why the coalition is desperate to get an election now rather than in two years time. It knows that by then the terms of trade will deliver a bonanza of revenue and the budget will be back in surplus.
I have no doubt that if the Coalition had actually been in Government they also would have kickstarted the economy with stimulus debt spending but from Opposition they hoped and tried to sabotage the government from doing the responsible thing.
