I think you make an important point, management would have conducted some sort of due diligence on this before throwing it open to all comers.

Imagine the egg on all faces concerned if in two months the process is closed without any serious interest being shown in any of the deposits.

It wouldn't be a good start for the new CEO - this is really his first strategic move since taking the chair and if I were in his shoes I wouldn't want to flop on my first attempt to 'wheel and deal'.

The next question is - how low can the share price go during the next two months while we wait?
