Firstly WW2 was nearly 20 yrs before so it is questionable that any of the Aussie SAS had experience in that one.
Secondly the Korean terrain is not jungle so there is no chance of comparison.

This has no substance,it could merely mean we where up against a hell of a lot of Indonesians or worse up against an unknown amount of Indonesians in a environment they are familiar with!!
Fourthly I have no doubt the Indonesions are great jungle fighters seen as it is there home terrain,but we are getting a bit sidetracked here.
If you go back to my 2nd post in this thread I was just merely stating that if there was a showdown between Australia and Indonesia and Indonesia where the aggressors/invaders that there would be no chance of them winning because the Australian fighting unit is one of the best in the world and it is recognised around the world,and to try and fight us on our own soil would be suicidal.
When you have one of the best generals the world has ever seen(Rommel) admiring the Australian army enough for him to say to Hitler "give me an Australian army" after Hitler said to him I will give you anything you want because of his appreciation,you have to stand up and take notice.Rommel has also been quoted as saying "if I had the Australian army I could take on the world"
When you have one of the most arrogant military superpowers (US) in the world conceding that the Aussie SAS are better than there rangers and also recognise the SAS as one of the best guerrilla units in the world well you have to stand up and take notice.
My work mate lived there for 6 years because it was cheap living and yes I have no doubt he liked the people but he was also the type of person where nothing worried him,but I remember him always making the point that ultimatley westerners are second rate from a general perspective!
