Deport Nah … Correct me if I am wrong but capital gains tax used to be payable on any dollar above the inflation rate.
Now it’s 50% of profit and no consideration for inflation.

This change may have encouraged a short term speculative boom (maybe) but longer term if housing only keeps pace with inflation investors will still incur a Tax bill respective of what inflation does.(providing they sell at a profit of course)

Could be argued that this change will also encourage money to switch focus very quickly.

If quick gains can’t be had in housing then into whatever is the next best thing. Some might call that dynamic?

Opinion only as well as my understanding of the Tax law re capital gains tax
