The US was not interested in WW2 until Japan attacked and that's probably a good thing.

Why did the Japan attack the US?

Was it because the hated the freedom of the US or its religion?

NO, the reason was because the US was rapidly expanding its influence into the South Pacific and Japan felt threatened.

Interfere in areas you have no business in and don't be surprised when someone retaliates.

And don't let anyone tell you Pearl Harbour was a surprise. The US was given subtle messages prior to the attack, even not so subtle messages.

Almost every region of conflict in the world today can be attributed to US meddling.

Korea, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, etc etc is all because of US short term action that had long lasting consequences.
