The proof's already in the pudding there Callback...look at the obstacles to mapping (and therefor drilling)to date. The Department of Resources, when they addressed the TO's in December 2010, indicated that, in line with due process, applications to map and drill would be subject to the most rigorous cultural and environmental examination with no guarantees that either would proceed (and of course no guarantees that they wouldn't proceed).

The ALC have already commissioned their own study re the effects of GR's mapping proposals and if GR re-submit an application to map to EPBC the ALC's response will be lodged as an "objection". I'm also aware that other stakeholders will also be lodging their "objections".

There's also the process of lodging MMP's with the NT Government. Neither mapping or drilling are done deals.

All this not taking into consideration public and political lobbying by stakeholders.

You know all this Callback...do you actually enjoy reading my "long winded" replies or is this an attempt to sideline me due to RSI's from using my lap top without accesss to ergonomically sound furniture?

GOT could probably afford to buy one of GEMCO's road trains...but I'd have no problem with GOT buying GEMCO out, then abandoning their sea based aspirations; they'd be really struggling to perform worse in forging relationships with the TO's and respect for the environment than GEMCO. And they might even consider going down the path of a joint venture with the TO's...
