    bollingerbob,

On May 26, 2011, Traxys North America announced it has entered into an agreement to purchase all the UF6 that the Department of Energy (DOE) in the U.S. had intended to sell (through 2013) to fund the clean up at thePortsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

The DOE previously announced on March 2, 2011, its intention to sell 5 million pounds of uranium into the spot market each year from 2011 to 2013.

On top of this, to date 412t of HEU (Highly Enriched Uranium) has been recycled, equivalent to 16500 warheads by the US & Russian military as part of the 1993 anti proliferation agreement.

If the US government is so concerned about 'defense critical resources' (I presume you are referring to Uranium) wouldn't it be counterproductive to sell off their stockpiles?
