Thats right patman68 and is a very good reason why we should be reducing our dependence on imported oil by developing alternatives.
While I am sceptical of AGW I am inclined to support the carbon tax as long as it leads directly to the development and use of more non petroleum based fuels.
It is only the mining industry that is sending the A$ so high as the rest of the economy is just ticking over and some parts like tourism are in recession. So the dollar needs to come down but as you say then fuel prices will rocket up. Jeez talk about stuck between a rock and a hard place. No wonder neither the government nor opposition seem to have a clue what to do.
