Mymom fair question
It's no disadvantage at all.
I keep a core holding in my SMSF, for LT hold
I keep a core holding in one account for my personal $ which I will hold for the LT
I trade the swings as well with one or two parcels. I do this with ORD because I know stocks I hold much better and deeper than I do those I don't hold LT, so I get a feel for when they can or might move up and down
Kind of like hedging in a way
Even better, I often use the profits to add to my core position and even better, leave the profit in there directly at the time and remove my initial capital
Due to increasing workloads, I am trading less, used to be 50-100 trades a month, but not any more but I can still have the luxury of executing the above strategy
I will not however, or haven't yet and probably won't, short sell one of my favourite stocks
I hate this expression, but I truly believe ORD will one day be over $1, and so I intend on having a large position in both my super and my personal account so I can keep a LT focus where in the past I might have struggled to do so
Hope that clears it up a bit anyhow.
