My employer is Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Business Enterprises. This is the business arm of the Anindilyakwa Land Council.

In this role my wife and I, among other things, provide Cross Cultural Awareness and Training Courses on the Eylandt. These courses are delivered to most non Local Eylandt employees, both in the public and private sectors, and visitors. Delivery constitutes probably around 10%-20% of our workload- a large percentage of the remainder, has, since December 2010 been taken up in coordinating the TO's campaign against sea bed mining.

Sometimes when our work requirements demand, and we are either off Eylandt or otherwise engaged, GEBIE employs an off Eylandt consultant to delivers these courses.

Under the Mine Management Agreement GEMCO employees must undertake these courses, both management and rank and file, just as other employers, public and private, have similar compulsory requirements as a result of their presence on Groote. Fees for attendance at courses are remitted to GEBIE by all employers and individuals undertaking our courses.

Between 1997 and 2006 I was an on Eylandt lecturer with Charles Darwin University. Between 1998 and 2003, under a MOU between CDU and GEMCO I was part of a team that designed, developed and implemented GEMCO's Aboriginal Employment Strategy. During that period I also coordinated the Training Program, and delivered some of its components, in regard to that Strategy.

Neither my wife or I hold shares in GOT. However we are both in a Super Fund that may, or may not, hold BHP shares...but in regard to that I have no idea.
