The registering of sacred sites is not simply a matter of the ALC's anthropologist working with TO's in identifying places and areas of significance. The process attempts to incorporate the notions of objectivity.

Evidence is provided by the ALC's anthro and then assessed as to its validity. Often the ALC is required to engage outside anthro's in the process to further ensure validity.

Re Turner's map of the Song Lines completed in 1968. I'll think about posting it (you can track it down yourself with a bit of effort). Turner's map was an attempt to translate the Songline concept into a form that might provide the Mainstream with a general understanding of what they are all about- as vehicles utilised for reincarnation in mortuary ceremonies and mechanisms defining the kinship relationships of all natural phenomena...hence "if you know the songs you know the culture" comment from my missus.

As a result he drew them as thin lines on a map. The Swordfish line is my wife's songline carving out the Angurugu River- alongside the Swordfish's journey are the journey's of the King Brown, and beyond that the journeys of things like death adders, therefor broadening that song line if you like. That's not indicated on Turner's map.

That same Swordfish song line, on Turner's map, made the big lake on Connection Island, yet on Turner's map he charts it as travelling about a klm south of Connection. I trust you get the drift on what I'm on about here.

At least by your post you are acknowledging that the Song Lines actually exist. Do you agree that they are charted by Turner as something akin to a maze criss-crossing GR's sea based tenements...and that one of them travels from the Blue Bay area into Groote?

I'll be guided by my employer here, but I'll argue for posting it despite the fact that I anticipate it will be deliberately misinterpreted particularly by some poster's here.

At the initial meeting between the TO's and GR in December 2009, GR said they'd be interested in "learning more about the culture." The then Chairman of the ALC turned to me and my wife and said, "Tell them (expletive deleted)nothing" and then walked out. I've been given licence by the TO's to post what I post here, a group of them see all posts on GOT threads, not just mine. That that blows them away is more than an understatement. But it's a great educational process in my opinion.

Why don't you upload the map? Because getting your back side kicked here for not following their rules is not getting your backside kicked, it can be much more dangerous than that.

I have been given permission to post two paintings, one done about fifty years ago depicting the totemic beings belonging to the Angurugu River Songline represented in vibrant ochres etc. and another painted by an old man a few years back depicting the same totemic beings in shades of grey in a sullied river. Next week I'll scan photo's of them and post them here.

Callback I've got a few comments to make re the mining process you previously posted, and some other things, but I'm off to Alyangula for some shopping right now.

Mate I've already got your left nut in payment of a lost bet, arrived by carrier pigeon yesterday, although I did need a microscpoe to identify it. Suggest you're slightly confused...it's your righty that's on the line now. And when you lose it will that mean you'll be posting in a high pitched voice from then on?

Cheers Callback...we're both obsessives aren't we.
