you are wrong about climate change, mr jones, page-49

I noticed that Boofy could name a lot of people who understand the basic reasons why the earth is warming, but he didn't name a single working climate scientist who denies the earth is warming. That's probably because there aren't any - at least not that I've heard of. And I figure that if there was even one, the deniers would be shouting his or her name from the rooftops.

As maglincer's post indicates, the best the deniers can come up with are what I refer to as the 'political delayers' - people like Lindzen, Christie, Spencer and Curry (I can't think of too many others). They accept and state that greenhouse gases are real, that they moderate the temperature of the earth and keep it warm enough to support life, and that human emissions are adding to greenhouse gases and causing the global temperature to rise.

A couple of them talk up 'uncertainties' (like will we let it get to +10C or manage to keep it at +2C). Others say in public (but not successfully in science journals) that the amount we're emitting won't heat the earth more than 1 or 2 degrees celsius - which they say won't be that bad. (Since we're already nearly up one degree, they might have to revise their upper estimates soon, given the rate at which we're still emitting these gases).

By the way, I'm happy to give Boofy and his thumbers time to consider their response to point one of the debate they invited me to take part in. They are probably waiting for Andrew Bolt to join in, after he's finished his coke.

I'll check into the science forum from time to time to see how you're all faring and respond or accede, and then post debate point 2.
