... the general balance of ASX shares traded as ADRs on the Nas is usually 3 - 6 % of the local shares on offer

...... using the back of the beer coaster maths ... say PRR have a register of 900 million shares

... a 3 - 6 % would represent 27 - 54 million PRR shares from the ASX ... to get the processes up and running satisfactorily on the Nasdaq

... but this is only an 'average' amount ... demand may require more ... but the market maker needs to balance this without causing ' wild ' price fluctuations through buying on market with too much upwards pressure on market

if there is a sufficient or indeed unsatisfied demand in the US for Prima PBMD ... the price on the markets overnight are likely to be reflected on the ASX the next day ... and subseqently the prices should increase accordingly in proportion ... and so on ... needless to say the reverse can apply
