I think you missed the point of my questioning.A few of your points in your previous post pricked my interest.
"Beacause the area dredged was beyond the low water mark, down to which the TO's have inailiable free hold title the TO's under the legislation could not prevent that activity."
So as I understand it the TO's have no say in sea matters at this point, and if they do pursue sea rights how will this impact GEMCO? Do you think they will simply let this happen?
"Gemco informed the ALC of their intention to dredge and I lodged an MMP with NT DOR for that purpose,"
So you lodged a MMP, what qualifications and knowledge do you have in this area? Did you also lodge one for the river management, or could you inform us on what plan is in place for this culturally significant site?
"Pretty typical I would suggest- and although reasonably small impact- of the environmental risks involved in the mining process."
Has sea bed mining happened in this area before, how can you make these assumptions- what if someone can satisfy the DOR that it is feasible and within environmental boundaries?
"The dredging impacted on a Song Line, however as I am constantly reminded on this forum the TO's have no control, under the legislation, of the sea scape. However environmental considerations are part of that legislation and Government Procedure."
So you agree the TO's don't have control over the sea scape, currently song line/s have been damaged, so if the DOR are satisfied that GOT have fulfilled all there LEGAL requirements why do they have to follow different guidelines and constraints than GEMCO?
"Mining poses a dire threat to cultural maintenaince and that fact obviously drives the TO's aggressive stance in regard to GOT's ambitions. However, as I said, Gemco are a fait accompli."
Total cop out, so GEMCO are already and according to you have done irreparable damage to the Culture on the Eylandt but because the government has given them a lease and the TO's rent them land, it's ok then, too hard basket! Please how can you not declare an ongoing public campaign on the state of the river and other destruction but on the PERCEIVED threat of GOT you work full time- hypocrisy maybe??
Anyway time will tell and maybe that lack of information is just the quiet before the storm- pardon the pun, who knows but you can't have your cake and eat it as well.
Cheers
