    How, and to whom, are they going to sell? If the company is delisted?

    The only entity that can buy the shares is the company.

    The price will be a take it of leaved it job, you can be sure.

    Why would I have a grudge, and why would I be downramping? What exsactly IS there to downramp? There IS no company any more to downramp!

    My concern is that there are still people out there who think this is all going to end well and that you're going to get rich or at least your moeny back...

    Forgive my ignorance here, but i can't quite see how that is going to happen.

    Here is what the situation is when a company is delisted:

    The final step is deregistration, and here is the situation:

    http://www.delisted.com.au/Deregistered.aspx

    From that site:

    ==== START QUOTE ====
    The deregistration (as distinct from the delisting) of a company is the final act. The company is removed from the official records as a registered company. It no longer exists. Shares have no value.

    Deregistration is recognized as a Capital Gains Tax Event and when it happens, shareholders can crystallise a capital loss for tax purposes (providing of course the shares were acquired on or after 20 September 1985, which is when capital gains tax was first introduced). The claim for a capital loss does not need to be substantiated with documentation, shareholders just need to know the company is deregistered.

    ===== END QUOTE ====

    So, it would appear that if the company delists at its own request, your shares are still nominally worht SOMETHING - but only if you can sell them to a broker, or to the company at whatever they will give you for them. Once the company deregisters, it's all over red rover - capial loss for tax purposes.

    I really can't see any other light in which to view this. And I repeat - I have absolutely NO reason to downramp. Simply trying to point out realities, and perhaps get some of those who read these threads to see beyond the rose-coloured glasses which some posters are obviously wearing.
