Continuous disclosure rules provide exceptions for confidential information, negotiations and other situations where the company would potentially be disadvantaged by disclosing the information prematurely. The confidential status of the wells doesn't relate specifically to the stock listing and related exchange rules but rather to the statuatory reporting for such wells.
The right therefore to declare a well "confidential" doesn't necessarily infer that this translates to a right not to report price sensitive aspects to the relevant markets on which the stock is listed, however one assumes that given the lack of rigidity in the relevant ASX rules that one could easily construct an argument to support the choice not to disclose the information should the company think it has good reasons to do so.
