"What's the difference between trying to convince someone to have a religious belief and trying to convince them to not have a religious belief?"

    amen brother! (or sister)

we are all religious in many aspects of our lives,
religion is just a repetion of a habit, be it mental or physical
so therefore it can be good neutral or bad depending on what it is you are doing.

imo, the best religion is doing what you know is right depending on the situation - finding various repatable methods that gives the best results for your mind.
where is the rule book that says you have to accept an entire basket of dogma in order to qualify as being religious?
    for example:
someone that repeatedly gets drunk and then beats up their family is religious, but in the bad sense of the word
someone that volunteers in care for neglected and unwanted animals is also being religious, but in the good sense of the word.

utltimately, when we can do, and do do what we want to that becomes our religion, it is an individual matter.
