Fair comment. I guess I have been investing for a long time and the concept of "ethical investing" is new to me. I sold most of my portfolio when the stops were hit in 2007. I currently have shares in 6 companies. Three uranium companies, two gold companies and VMS.
I think the USA is an economic cot case and Europe is not far behind. I seriously wonder if the capitalist concept of economic growth has a future. Growth as we have known it is no longer sustainable environmentally. The world needed to take action to combat climate change 10 years ago. We didn't and that window of opportunity has now closed. Regardless of what we now do, we are sentenced to at least 2 degrees temperature increase. The consequences of that are serious but the tragic fact is that we are still not addressing the problem and the likelihood is a 4 - 6 degree increase by 2100. That will have a catastrophic impact.
I dont consider myself a pessimist - more a realist. I wont be around to suffer the consequences of mankinds reckless greed and inaction but my children and grandchildren will be and that makes me sad.
