Gas Rush 2 will only need one catalyst in the form of a GSA, farm-in or takeover.

I predict that catalyst will be a takeover of, probably, BOW by one of the Big Four. Second guess is takeover or tenement buyout of COI's Bowen land.

Gas Rush 2 won't be as impressive as Gas Rush 1 because the low-hanging fruit has been well and truly picked. What's left is either small (BOW), tight (MEL) or a long way away and a difficult target for a non-Santos company (ESG). Or else it's in the Galilee and thus completely stupid (Blue, the rest of COI).

And unlike Gas Rush 1 when it was a mad scramble for prime land, this will be less panicked and a result of companies tallying up their Reserves and realising they're still a bit short.

But here's a scenario for ESG - BOW gets bought out by, say, BG. Implied is that BG didn't have enough gas. BG has decently more gas than STO already. Implied is that STO need more gas than BOW could provide.

Who's that? ESG is really the only contender.

So I'm looking for ESG's SP to benefit from speculation as soon as the next target goes under.
