No its going gang busters but not on eco tourism at this point in time, but in servicing the insatiable accomodation needs of the employment opportunities here. Actually, I'm not too keen myself on eco-tourism as an economic trump card, can't see it as a big momey spinner. Just flying to the Eylandt from Darwin means pilfering one's un-numbered Swiss back account...maybe if the dollar dives again there might be some future there. I argued for sustainable aquaculture at the time...but its a good chance we'll have both.

I wouldn't mind seeing crocodile hunting safari's though, get some macho blokes paying for participation in a controlled cull. Croc's are everywhere, hardly anywhere is safe to swim here anymore...even waterholes 5-10 klms inland.

To my mind all alternatives to seabed mining need to be considered.

Gemco, I think gross about $1 billion- $1.25 billion p.a.

Gemco seem to pay the rent via Royalties and other arrangements. But, in my opinion, its basically crumbs given what the GE's sacrifice in return. Re-mining, I think the way forward is in joint ventures from the TO's perspective, and not just on Groote but anywhere.

Big dough in Trepang, though, apparently.
