    Hi Danhold
Firstly I am not Charlie Aitken but I do subscribe to his newsletter.
Secondly I have previously corrected the impressions that several people have posted before about what Charlie apparently said.
I respectfully state that Charlie NEVER said that BHP were going to bid for WPL, what he did state was that BHP "SHOULD" bid for WPL and outlined a whole range of reasons why they SHOULD,that would have benefits for all parties, and the fact that regulators would block BHP from practically any major mining acquisition - petroleum / LNG is the only thing they could do / BHP indicated that LNG was something they wanted.
Additionally his trading experience indicated that something was afoot with heavy options trading and activity in London (before these activities were brought into the public domain by the media).
I mention this for accuracy - before a host of others jump on the bandwagon.
I agree with your observation though - the cheaper WPL gets the more likely BHP will move - so Charlie gets to be right anyway as any bid would be above $42sh where he was recommending them as a buy.
    All the best
