I don't know where you got that from, but, as of the 16th of June, ASIC shows that ESG has a total of 9.849,815 shares shorted and still uncovered.
So, you will notice that in one day alone the outstanding and uncovered shares have increased by close to 900,000 shares.
From what I know, IMO, the ASX does not list the amount of cumulative outstanding shares. ASIC does. And that is simply because it falls within their rules and jurisdiction.
The ASX only list the total shorting for the previous day's trading. And it does so, because it was forced to do so and forced to comply with. Not because they wanted to do it and be good/generous to us.
