It's never over till the fat lady sings and in this case a substantial part of the audience hasn't come back in from the interval though they are still ticketholders and are in the car park.
It is inconceivable that the mid west will lay idle.
There are a number of different scenarios and no different to FMG in the Pilbara when battling the majors and access to their networks. Solution. Go alone.
It would be great to see a revised project proceeding on a much smaller tonnage scale to maintain the existing ore commitments minus Sinosteel Midwest as phase one. Why not.
Call their bluff and get on with it. Unlike the Japanese, the Chinese have zero pride and are just crafty and this may be just the catalyst the project actually needs.
I guess we'll find out in the next announcement though to think there were not contingencies here would be implausible though sadly based on recent management events entirely possible.
