While I fully agree with your point about optimising the process etc However, as with everything there is a cost vs benefit issue here & the biggest cost I see is the cost of delay because the price of rare earth's will come down (a lot I understand) so there is a big advantage in making hay while the "sun shines"
I am not saying you or the company is wrong but I wonder if anyone could put a figure on the benefits of this decision.
