A friendly merger with another goldie is quite likely IMO, it will not be a short term aim though as they will possibly get into that sort of activity when they become cash flow positive. Their holding of lots of cash is more likely to have been at least partially intended as a financially defensive position to deter attempts at being taken over themselves.
