Until recently, St Barbs had made a friendly takeover bid for Catalpa who rejected the offer. Catalpa is now in M&A talks with Qld-based Conquest Mining, who are jointly looking at acquiring Newcrest's Qld gold assets.

St barbara are considering their next move.

There is a 3rd option, in Coolgardie that regularly treats 3rd party ore, but the distance is probably cost prohibitive as well.

If you really want to stretch the question, there is a prospector in Southern Cross that has his own Battery ;-)

BCN hope is SXG reach their critical mass for starting up their own plant at Marda (<100km away) for potential synergies, or find the gold themselves.
