The other reason for a name change is simply "reputation management". Bendigo mining had a name change, but we all still know it is Bendigo Mining, and it trades like it is still Bendigo mining.

When people look up Groote resources on the internet (and I haven't), they might find news articles and items that don't benefit the company. A name change is a new start- kind of.

There is a whole industry now for reputation management. If an online reputation is damaged, there are ways to cover that. I was looking up someone on the internet the other day and saw a bunch of nonsense websites. I then followed a few clues and came up with reputation management websites- fascinating stuff. Now I know what those sites are wqhen I come across them. I came across another lot of them when I checked a Director the other day. Then one just has to search further to see what is being covered up. The RM is used to move "bad" items from google, so the nonsense websites come up first.

But back to GOT. I doubt they are using professional reputation management. I take a different view to yilyanga, though, in thinking that it is GOT being progressive and changing tack- this is business after all, and if the business community knows of GOT in a particular way- just word association stuff- then a name change can help. No more google worries.

It's a significant change for GOT to do a name change. I can see why they're doing it. The question remains, will it work?
