i think there are plenty examples of effective democracy in Europe and, most of all, here, in Australia
the Labour Party especially in Australian history has fostered a balanced democracy, with good corporate governance, regulations, etc
there must be balance
where as the USA is not really a democracy
it is like an oligarchy
voting there is not even compulsory
the same vested interest groups dominate both sides of politics
the USA is like having two Liberal Parties in Australia
where as, in Australia, due to current pathetic Labour & Liberal parties, there are fringe elements controlling the balance of power, more or less
this does not occur in the USA
Australia is a wonderful country (relatively, comparatively). It is important the right wing Liberal Christian fundamentalist folks do not try to turn Australia into another USA
