Another way to look at it - do you think is his ongoing contributions are critical to the future success of the company? If you think no, then todays announcement wouldn't worry you. If you think yes, then I think there is reason for concern.

Only Warren could provide insight to his actons, rather than Coretrack management. Publically released information from management in the last 12 months has often deviated from reality - the december announcement that testing at Merriden will resume after Xmas comes to mind. They knew their financial position at the time so the subsequent run out of money excuse doesn't hold up for me. If WS was genuinely parting ways, I very much doubt management would confirm that? If they confirm otherwise regarding his ongoing role, then great.

14M shares and 4M options is currently worth around $1.5M all up, which is huge for many, but not exactly all-in for a bloke worth $30M based on past business sales. He might actually value his time as being better deployed on other things than on that 5% of his wealth. Bear in mind, he invented this thing with a vision for Geothermal, which doesn't look on the cards in the short-term with Coretrack. And I'm yet to read anything that indicates the proposed GT5000 is actually part of the IP agreement between Warren and Coretrack, has anyone confirmed that it is?
