Wonder how they will turn this resource into cold card cash and what infrastructure options are in place.
The North West Coastal Highway is so close (which is highlighted in the Annoucement) and our deposit is only 50km from Karatha, right about where the massive Sino Iron magnetite processing plant is being built. They are looking to ramp up processing at that plant to 70mtpa.
Understand that the extra processing costs invovled with magnetite is made up by the premium steel makers are willing to pay for processed high iron, low impurity concentrate. Could this mean that ex transportation costs a third party processing deal still results in good project economics?
However, setting up our own processing plant would I think cost around a $1 bil (based on say Atlas' Ridley project without the associated infrasturcture spend) with gas supplies close at hand. Have to think that this option is a bridge too far...?
