Whilst I agree with you that Paterson's has an interest given the previous capital raising, I disagree that they have a stake in the company. If you read the rights issueu document completely, you will notice that Paterson's have subunderwritten their commitment. That means they do not own any of the shares as a result of rights issue.
I see their interest in covering the company being underwriting fees, and future involvement in capital raising of the company.
