I do know what arbitraging is about. Check the price of BHP on UK and ASX. Always dearer on the UK - has always been the case. Converting UNS to UNIS over some time went from 12-13-15-18M - it has been 17-18M for the last few months. I set myself up to be able to sell in the US but haven't.

Gee you make it sound like we just go down the shop and buy a few ice creams - you know 5 for $1. We do 300-500K a day and they do 1-1.5M. So we have to put in 3 days trading just to match one of their days. Forgive me for sounding a bit p**sed but how many shares do we have to buy to scare the pants off the yank shorters. I dare say it would take quite a few million $$ and I for one just don't happen to have 5-10 of them spare cash at the moment. And WHO is to say the shorters don't drive it down the next few days in the USA. What in goodness name is going to keep the price up after a week. Santa. I believe in Santa mate, but he ain't that good.

I ain't giving any hedge fund anything and surely wouldn't be setting myself up to get burnt by them. This story starts gathering pace in 12-18 mths time and really gets going in 2-3 yrs so why would ya be going bonkers NOW.

Hey do you ever check the Aussie shorts: the other week - one day a whole 2 went through. Another day 20 or so. BIG time players here. The short position in aust is 600-650K as of 30th June. That is a whole .23 of 1%.

I do blame the yanks for sending UNS/UNIS south and I will blame them twice as much for sending it north when it happens.
