I think we all must remember, that coal will be the fuel of choice for a while yet.Environmentally, coal is scourge. It will definitely, at some point, be given the "heave ho" so to speak. But at the moment, considering the economic outlook, coal is the cheapest fastest source of fuel for most of the developing nations. The world economic balance sheet, at the moment, is being written on rice paper: one small slip and it can be torn asunder. Yes, there are better forms of power but at the moment , saving the economy outweighs saving the environment. Green forms of energy are being placed on the back burner in place of the most economical. I know it can be argued that using coal will eventually cost us all more in the long run but try telling that to those emerging nations who want 1st world status, now!!
As the economy becomes stronger and more stable Green Initiatives will again take centre stage and will become economically attainable and we will see coal slip into history under the title,"Mistakes We Made While Developing the World."Until then it will be "full steam ahead" in the coal industry.
So if you have coal shares, sit back and enjoy the ride. If you are an environmentalist and nonholderl, you will have to wait for a little while longer
    for the worm to turn.
