re: blackoil, BlackOil,
Some time ago, the issue of dissemination of smut was pinpointed as one of the reasons, posters stayed away.
I am particularly referring to female posters.
When anyone joins H/C, he/she needs to comply with some rules which are referred to at the foot of this page. These are very comprehensive. I suggest you read those.
Thanks to Fig_jam, Milesg, Metaphor and others who thoroughly discussed this item and the adverts.
It is necessary to carefully balance the interests of the OWNER and those of the posters.

"Insofar as my own alleged risque posting is implicated, then the opt out system of blocking me should suffice. Alternatively h/c should have a risque board where everything goes".
For starters, H/C is read by hundreds of thousands from many countries, day and night. Many wouldn't have a clue about using an Ignore Button; why should they have to adjust to your needs anyway?
I would say that readers would have been shocked by some of your posts!
As to free speech, there is also the matter of liability and defamation involved. If we were to follow your suggestion, HotCopper would have collapsed long ago.
H/C is a free site which offers the greatest good to the greatest amount of users.
Your ability as a poster with good judgment is not being questioned.
