I would think the Chinese would be looking past the shrill noise being created by a defunct Qld Govt and would be smiling inscrutibly.

I think they would see Kingaroy for what it was ... a one off unfortunate casing error (now sorted) that did not occur a decade earlier in Chinchilla and has not reportedly occured over 3 yrs of continuous operation in Majuba (see comment below).

They would also see Ergo Exergy technology being gainfully and happily applied by Eskom in Majuba South Africa and about to be applied by Solid Energy in NZ and Larus Energy in the US I think.

Having tried to "go alone" on UCG over the past 5-10 yrs without breakthrough success despite their technological and commitment rigour, I would also think the Chinese place considerable value on an essentially proven UCG technology like that of Ergo Exergy's.

Lastly, given their own experience, I would think the Chinese are in a position to critically evaluate competing UCG technologies eminating from Australia and overseas and can probably seen through the smoke n mirrors of some.

No, imo, Cougar is well placed to leverage business in China.
