I think the point Citendale is making is that physically holding precious metal allows you to hold somethijng tangible, that has worth and value. If we are talking about a scenario worse than the great depression, society could quite literally gorund to a halt overnight. The marketplace driven by fear, (which it is, markets are emotion based) will flee from gold stocks- physical gold will reatin its value but not gold stocks. The only thing the piece of paper saying you own gold stocks will be valuable for is starting a far, or wiping your backside. You can wipe your backside with a few ounces of gold if you like as well- but its still gold, just with a brown streak on it- it still has value. brown streaked paper does not...
